From planning travel to finding inspiration for your next dream vacation, Instagram is everywhere and our top spots will help you pick the perfect place to set up your next shot!
Top 5 Instagram-Worthy Spots To Photograph Niagara Falls
#1: The “Journey Behind The Falls” viewing platform
Once you pay the small entrance fee, you will ride an elevator through the rock and will land next to the majestic Horseshoe Falls. “Journey Behind The Falls,” run by Niagara Parks, is the only place in the world where you are able to photograph the side of Horseshoe Falls.
When standing on the viewing platform, you can feel the power of the falls and get a unique perspective that is perfect for Instagram. The $11.50 entrance fee is totally worth it for the memorable photos you will get. Note: This is not a guided tour and you have the freedom to walk around and stay as long as you like.
This is also one of the best things to do in Niagara Falls in winter because the platform looks so cool for photos from above! The tour may be closed, but you can see the platform from above the falls and it looks so amazing!
#2: The tunnels that run behind Horseshoe Falls
While you are on the “Journey Behind The Falls” tour, make the most of your entrance fee by exploring the tunnels carved into the rock behind Horseshoe Falls! If you are like us and didn’t know these tunnels or true “behind the falls” view existed, you are in for a real treat! It is actually the oldest attractions at the park and one of the coolest perspectives to photograph Niagara Falls! From the tunnels, you are able to hang out behind the actual waterfall and feel the spray from the water. Don’t take too long so your camera or smartphone doesn’t get soaked!
#3: The walkway right in front of the Niagara Parks Table Rock Centre
The Niagara Parks Table Rock Centre is practically on top of Horseshoe Falls. If you are already in Canada, simply face the American side and walk all the way to your right until you arrive at the top edge of Horseshoe Falls. This perspective is Instagram-worthy because you are able to easily capture the rushing water of the river above and the waterfall itself in the background. Depending on the day, you may get lucky with the mist and the birds soaring overhead!
#4: In Canada, directly across from the American Falls
In order to get the full view of the American Falls, you have to head to Canada! If you stand on the Canadian side and face Niagara Falls in America, you will get a stunning, full-on view of the entire waterfall. This angle is traditional and has been shot for decades, but you shouldn’t pass it up. To photograph Niagara Falls more unique, try playing with angles or zooming in to capture the waterfall in more detail.
#5: On top of “The Maid Of The Mist” elevator platform
Although the “Maid of the Mist” is technically a boat ride, the viewing platform offers stunning views that are perfect for photographing the American side of Niagara Falls. The platform is easy to find and juts out over the Niagara River, giving you a fantastic “from above” angle to shoot the falls. Alternatively, you could forgo the platform and walk right to the edge of Niagara Falls just in front of the “Maid of the Mist’ entrance for an even closer look.
Have you ever photographed Niagara Falls? What was your favorite angle?
