If you are looking for the best adults-only all-inclusive resort in the USA, you need to check out the Bungalows Key Largo in Florida.
There are not many all-inclusive resorts in Florida or the USA, and Bungalows Key Largo transported me to an island oasis. I originally had booked for 3 days, but it was so amazing that I added on a 4th night while I was on the property [worth it!]
As one of the only all-inclusive resorts in the USA exclusively for adults (21+), this destination promises a blend of intimacy, comfort, and exotic flair.
From gourmet dining ( I still can’t believe how amazing it was!) to serene spa experiences, Bungalows Key Largo offers everything you need for a perfect getaway.
I am going to break down everything in this full Bungalows Key Largo review and show you what makes this resort a must-visit for those seeking a luxury all-inclusive getaway with no passport required for USA citizens!
Getting To Bungalows Key Largo
Getting to Bungalows Key Largo is pretty straightforward. The best airport to fly into is Miami International Airport, although you can also fly into Fort Lauderdale if you find a better deal!
If you’re flying in, the closest major airport is Miami International Airport, which is about a 1.5-2 hour drive away.
You can rent a car from the airport, which gives you the freedom to explore the scenic Overseas Highway at your own pace. You can also do Uber/Lyft/taxi. I spoke with people during my stay who did both.
I live in Central Florida so I drove down for my trip!
Alternatively, you could fly into Key West and do an entire Florida Keys road trip if you prefer!
Seamless Check-In Experience
Your journey at Bungalows Key Largo begins with a seamless check-in process designed to ease you into relaxation mode from the moment you arrive.
Guests are welcomed with a refreshing cocktail—a taste of the all-inclusive indulgence that awaits.
The friendly staff takes care of your luggage and guides you through a quick and efficient check-in, setting the tone for a stress-free stay where every detail is handled with precision and care.
I do want to mention that check-in is at 4pm and if you arrive early there is a steep fee to access the property. When I visited, it was $300 to be able to check in at 12pm instead of 4pm.
Perhaps this additional fee is worth it if you are coming in on an early flight. If you want to stay later on your day of check-out, similar fees apply!
I just want to be totally transparent and let you know about all of the ins and outs!
Once you check-in, you are taken to your bungalow by a cute little golf cart. They load up your luggage and take you on a tour of the property and explain where everything is, which I loved!
Choosing Your Bungalow
The resort features two distinct room categories: the Waterfront Bungalows and the Garden Bungalows. Both offer luxurious amenities, but each caters to different tastes and preferences.
Waterfront Bungalows
Positioned closer to the water, these bungalows provide views of the Florida Bay.
Ideal for those who want to enjoy sunsets from their private deck, each bungalow comes equipped with soaking tubs, outdoor garden showers, and plush king beds.
Garden Bungalows
For guests who appreciate lush greenery and tranquil garden views, the Garden Bungalows are a perfect choice.
These units offer a serene retreat surrounded by nature’s beauty, featuring similar amenities to the Waterfront Bungalows, including spacious interiors and exquisite outdoor showers.
So which did I choose…………………I chose the Garden Bungalow! Let me explain why!
The interior of the rooms are pretty much the exact same down to the square footage. The difference is the Waterfront Bungalows are THOUSANDS of dollars more expensive!
After seeing the waterfront bungalows in person, I was SO GLAD that I booked a Garden Bungalow.
The Waterfront Bungalows are HARDLY waterfront. They are “closer” to the water than the Garden Bungalows, but HARDLY waterfront. In fact, they are hundreds of feet away from the water.
I do not think booking the Waterfront Bungalows is a good deal for thousands of dollars extra and was BEYOND happy with my choice, the Garden Bungalow.
Inside The Garden Bungalow
My favorite part about the rooms at Bungalows Key Largo is that they are all free-standing and offer total privacy from your neighbors!!
You do not share walls with anyone and your garden area is 100% private.
Upon entering a Garden Bungalow, you’re greeted by a spacious, airy room bathed in natural light streaming through large windows and glass doors, which lead to a private outdoor patio.
The decor strikes a balance between modern chic and beach-inspired elements, featuring soft, neutral tones complemented by pops of coastal blues and greens. Elegant wood furnishings and plush textiles add a touch of sophistication.
The centerpiece of each Garden Bungalow is a king-sized bed, outfitted with premium linens and a multitude of pillows, ensuring a restful sleep.
The living area includes comfortable seating, perfect for lounging or reading a book.
My favorite part of the room at this all inclusive resort in Florida is that all of the bungalows feature a an outdoor garden shower and deep soaking tub, enclosed for privacy yet open to the sky, allowing for a truly refreshing experience surrounded by nature.
Showering outdoors after a soak in your private tub, truly hits different!
Each bungalow also comes with two bikes so you can ride around and explore the property! During my stay, I both walked and road bikes.
A lot of the other guests seemed to ride bikes a lot, I only did it a few times as I preferred walking.
Dining At Bungalows Key Largo
This is my favorite part of this Bungalows Key Largo review. The dining here was 10/10.
Since this is an all-inclusive resort, you can order as much as you want, and I sure did!! The food and the service was incredible and memorable.
Tips are NOT included like at other all-inclusive resorts you may have experienced, and I actually loved this. This allowed me to tip everyone individually and really make things special for those who went truly above and beyond [most of my experience]
I have food allergies and a lot of dietary restrictions and I have never been treated better than when dining at Bungalows Key Largo. It was a TRUE 5-star experience.
Let’s break down the dining options!
Sea Señor
Reflecting the ocean’s bounty, Sea Señor serves up fresh and flavorful Mexican seafood dishes in a vibrant, beachside setting. It’s a fantastic spot to savor tacos and tequila as you listen to the gentle waves.
I loved the outdoor dining here. This is toes in the sand and you are directly waterfront.
I had everything from burritos, quesadillas, tacos, queso, guac, margaritas and more. I ordered a ton of food here and it was all 11/10.
The Mexican food was incredible and I came back here multiple times during my stay!
Bogie & Bacall’s
For a more formal dining experience, Bogie & Bacall’s offers a multi-course feast featuring premium ingredients and expert wine pairings. The menu highlights contemporary American cuisine, perfect for a romantic evening.
This comes at an additional fee UNLESS you are staying for 4 nights. I added on a fourth night during my stay and was given access to this restaurant. This is truly one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at and certainly the best on property.
That being said, you are already spending a lot of money for this luxury experience, if you don’t want to spend the $$ to eat here, I totally understand and think you should take advantage of the included options I am listing!
If you DO want to eat here, just know, it is so incredibly WORTH IT!
Fish Tales
Inspired by the Mediterranean, Fish Tales presents a casual yet refined atmosphere where guests can indulge in freshly grilled meats and seafood, complemented by a selection of fine wines and spirits.
This restaurant is open-air dining during breakfast and lunch and the floor-to-celing windows are closed for dinner. This is something I didn’t know until my arrival.
I was a bit disappointed as I had wanted to dine with a tropical breeze and sunset view for dinner too, but you have to do that looking through the windows.
The food here was really good as it was everywhere we ate!
Sunset Tiki Bar
Located by the main pool, the Sunset Tiki Bar is ideal for those looking to unwind with a cocktail in hand while enjoying a variety of international dishes. From light salads to gourmet burgers, the menu caters to all tastes.
This is a great place for lunch, drinks, or a snack.
It is also open late and a great place for a lively chat.
Once again, the food here, although it was simple bites and bar food, was REALLY yummy!
Room Service
Unlike other all-inclusive resorts, room service is NOT included in your stay at Bungalows Key Largo and it comes at an extra cost. In addition, you cannot take food back to your room.
I was VERY disappointed in this as sometimes I just want to relax in my room.
This is the ONE downside to Bungalows Key Largo for me. The room service comes in around $30-$40 a plate and when you are already paying tons of money, who wants to deal with room service costing extra?
It would have been better if I could pick up my meal and bring it back to my room and that wasn’t allowed either [unlike almost every other resort I’ve stayed at, even just regular hotels].
I would 100% stay here again and it was worth every penny for me, but this was the one downside and I am still a bit disappointed in it.
Drinks At Bungalows Key Largo
When you are staying here, you get unlimited top-shelf liquor, this is an all-inclusive in the USA after all!
The drinks were super good and super strong.
The bartenders could make you whatever you wanted, but there were a variety of options.
You could order drinks with every meal and you could order drinks and food right to your lounge chair whether that is oceanside or poolside.
You CAN bring drinks back to your Bungalow [go figure] and you can walk around the property with your drinks.
Hemingway Bar is a popular indoor spot for drinks and light bites as was the Sunset Tiki Bar.
Of course, they can make mocktails or whatever you choose, the service was truly impeccable!
Amenities
I was here for four days and I never left the property! I was also here during high season and the resort never felt full or busy with tons of people.
This is my favorite part about staying here. You truly feel like you are on a tropical island oasis!
The resort boasts two spectacular pools, each designed to offer a unique aquatic experience:
Sunset Pool
As the name suggests, this pool is a prime location for watching stunning sunsets. It’s a peaceful haven for swimming or lounging by the water with a cocktail from the nearby bar.
This was the busiest pool during the day. I went here during sunset every night and there was almost nobody there. It was incredible and beautiful!
There is also a waterfront hot tub here with beautiful views!
The Sunset Pool features tons of lounge chairs with waterfront views and although I visited on a weekend in high season, there was always plenty of space to grab a lounge chair.
The sunset pool offers poolside food and drinks so you can stay lounging or swimming and still enjoy the all-inclusive drinking and dining options!
Zen Pool
For a quieter, more reflective day, the Zen Pool offers a tranquil environment surrounded by lush tropical gardens, making it a perfect spot to relax and rejuvenate.
This pool has cabanas that are included in your price and are first come first serve.
I preferred the hot tub of the serenity pool and went into it every day. It was secluded among super tall trees and almost nobody went here!
I loved how they were piping in zen mediation music and how calm and relaxing it was.
They also offer the pool menu and drinks here as well!
Adjacent to the Zen Pool is the gym which is entirely open air and outdoors, and provides a view of the Zen Pool area.
I did not work out, but I thought it was a unique design that I had not seen before.
Beach At The Bungalows?
The other small downside to this resort is that it is NOT on the typical pretty blue water that you are used to for the Florida Keys.
I have stayed at a hotel called Baker’s Cay Resort which is just a few miles down the road, facing the same direction as the Bungalows, and it was on pristine blue water.
For whatever reason, the part of the inlet/bay that the Bungalows is on is not that pretty shade of blue, although it IS clear.
The resort also does not have a beach, just a rocky staircase into the water.
Even though Bungalows Key Largo does not have a traditional sandy beach, the resort provides ample opportunities to enjoy the water. Guests can take a dip in the clear bay waters, explore local marine life by snorkeling, or paddle out in a kayak or on a paddleboard.
These watersports are included in your all-inclusive fee. You get access to paddleboards, kayaks, a water trike, and snorkel gear.
The boat cruises and sunset boat tours came at an additional price which I did not do.
I saw a manatee while here, it came right up to the shore.
You can also go lounge on their many inflatables which people seemed to enjoy but I did not do.
Either way, despite the lack of blue water and beach [and room service] this is still one of the best resorts I have ever been to, so don’t let this deter you!
Zen Garden Spa
If you want to complete your experience at the Zen Garden Spa it is going to come at an additional cost for the price of the service you are interested in. It is a beautiful sanctuary of wellness and relaxation.
The spa offers a range of treatments, including massages, facials, and body scrubs, all designed to pamper and rejuvenate.
Whether you’re looking for a soothing aromatherapy session or a rejuvenating deep tissue massage, the skilled therapists ensure you receive a personalized experience that meets your needs.
My Final Thoughts On This All-inclusive Resort In The USA
If I had to rate the Bungalows Key Largo, it would truly be a 10/10 experience!
It is one of the only TRUE all-inclusive resorts in the USA [when researching, make sure to check that the property includes unlimited top shelf liquor and food as a lot in the USA are not true all-inclusives]
But Bungalows Key Largo is!
The few downsides to this resort [no included room service or bringing food back to your room, no beach, and no clear blue water] are outshined by all the positives including the quality of food and how good it was, the incredible drinks, the lush property, the stand-alone bungalows with complete privacy, the pools and property design and more.
I wanted to touch on the demographics of this resort as well. I am in my 30’s and for the price point, I was expecting the Baby Boomer generation to be the predominate demographic.
I was wrong. Millennials and Gen X were the predominant generations, although there were some Baby Boomers, they were not the majority.
There were tons of working professional adults/younger people here, it was not a retired demographic AT ALL. Even the music was 90s-2000’s punk music or pop music piped through the resort like Blink 182 and similar.
This came as a surprise because for the high price point, I just [wrongly] assumed it would be retirees. Sure there were some older adult, but I would say maybe 20%-30%, not the majority.
One more thing I would like to say is that from the staff I talked to, everyone LOVED working there. The owner apparently treated them well during the pandemic and they all really seemed to enjoy their jobs and have been working at Bungalows Key Largo for many years.
I cannot speak for each staff member, but the people I talked to, told us how much they truly enjoyed their jobs. I have never really heard people talk about working in a hotel in such a positive manner and was impressed.
As I mentioned above, tips were not included and I tipped everyone well and was able to give it to the individual person directly. I much preferred this to the “tips-included” types of all inclusive resorts because I can be 100% sure that the people I interacted with are getting a fair compensation!
I know that this resort is expensive and a big bucket-list trip, but if you are looking for an all-inclusive resort in the USA and are considering the Bungalows Key Largo, I would say go for it! You won’t regret it!
